Getting a Green Seamaster 300m

Hi everyone, I’m new here. Thanks for having me!

I turn 40 in April and recently decided that that’s a suitable milestone to replace my smart watch with a proper timepiece.

The watch I have landed on is the green Seamaster 300m. The only issue now is getting hold of one! All retailers have this out of stock with an “express your interest” label on their websites. In addition, they’re mostly selling about retail price on the secondary market.

Does anyway know how long I can expect to wait on a list before getting hold of one at a retailer? Im based in the UK. I have a few months until my birthday, so I’m happy to wait a while. Is the best strategy to hit the street and get my name on every dealers list?

Related to this, I would like it with both the bracelet and the green rubber strap. Is it cheaper to buy the bracelet version and the strap as an extra or the other way round? I can’t find the retail price for the stand alone bracelet or strap - so can’t crunch the numbers!

Many thanks in advance.

I just got a shorter rubber strap from Omega AD, which converted to UK pounds is around £240.

I think it i always works out cheaper to buy the strap as an extra. As for getting one, I think if you go to a shop, tell them that you want one for your 40th then they will try their best.

My experience here in the states is that many of the big chain stores are no longer offering discounts on Omega watches — this includes those owned by Watches of Switzerland, a big chain over there in the UK. So you will have to decide if you want to wait and wait and wait until you can find a shop or second hand dealer that has one for a bargain, or whether you just want to pay retail now and get it sooner.

if the latter, any dealer should be able to get it for you reasonably quick.

in the long run, if you intend to keep the watch for years and years, I doubt you’ll even remember you “overpaid” by paying retail.

Check if you have an authorized dealer near you. If so get in line there. The whole experience of buying from an AD for your 40th could be a nice addition. Depending on how you see it of course.
I’d recommend buying it on the bracelet and then adding the rubber strap. Buying the bracelet separately will be maybe 5x more expensive than getting a rubber strap separately.

Find an AD and screw buying online. My AD has got many of these green Seamaster in since March/April and early November when I got mine. There were several people in front of me, got called a few times, and finally bought it. Got mine on the bracelet at a great price. AD offered the green strap for a very, very good price but I declined.

Thanks all. As it happened I managed to find two new sources with stock. Just need to pop into a dealer for one last try on before I take the leap. I will probably buy now when there is guaranteed stock and “try” to stash it away for a few months until my actual birthday.

per your advice, I’ll go for the bracelet and try hope to get a deal on the rubber strap (although I was quoted £450 from an AD today - which seems steep).

Good luck stashing it away from yourself! 😉

Price for the strap and clasp seems about right. In the US, the cost would be about $500 split $250 for the strap and $250 for the clasp.

If you’re ever flying to Dubai, the Omega stores there have these green SMP300s and they’ll throw the rubber strap in for free

On top of that you will get 20% off in VAT. Worth it for a day trip I reckon!

The UK price for the rubber strap is £225 and tang buckle £85. I believe the deployant clasp is also £225.
