Genuine Submariner?

Hello all,

There was a submariner I was looking at on Chrono24. The seller claims its from 1993, however some pictures seem to show a 16613 and some show the newer version.
The hour markers seem to change size and the date wheel colour goes from yellow to white...
I'm sort of confused and would appreciate some insight.

Probably scam if they are showing pictures of different watches. Don’t waist your time.

The 5th image is a newer model all others seem to me to be the same watch. It is conceivable that the dealer (or some clueless assistant) just added the wrong image.
Box? Papers? Movement photo?
Probably more trouble than it’s worth.

Either way someone polished the crap out of that watch so even if it was legit I wouldn't do it.

Sure the watch is genuine... well actually both are.
But: different watches.
Who is the seller? Trusted seller for how long? Maybe he just mixed up the pictures; happens...
But I wouldn't buy the 5digit with a case like this...

Not uncommon on Chrono24 to have a listing that shows 2 watches selling as one. One really needs to be careful on that site.

Totally agree. I’ve owned both incarnations in the past and that’s absolutely two different watches. Personally, the earlier 16613, had the nicer dial and bezel colour. The newer ceramic model colour was much flatter as you can see from the photos. If this isn’t a scam then I’ll run upstairs. I’m also a paraplegic so I think you can see where I’m coming from here 😉 Sorry.

Different watches but I think both genuine!
I would ask to the seller about it, it could be also a simple error during the uploading of photos

Just MHO but I think you’re being very charitable there I absolutely agree both watches do appear to be genuine from the photos. Personally though, given it’s an advert, the cynic in me still firmly shouts “ Its a scam”! If I was selling a watch of that kind of value, I’d make damn sure I posted the correct photos and one would hope that I could tell the difference between the two versions of the watch I was advertising. I’m still in the walk (or in my case, wheel) away camp on this one. The first thing I learned was to “buy the seller” when doing these kind of deals. If it doesn’t smell right then there’s a good chance that it isn’t?
