Geneve with seamaster rear case

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and new to vintage watches, always been a fan of watches in general though. I'm looking at vintage Omega, it's a 1967 Geneve but for some reason it has a Seamaster rear case. I've asked the owner and they said they have done some research and apparently some Geneves came with Seamaster rear casing. The model number inside the casing related to a Seamaster as well. Here is the watch, it's seen some wear!

Just wondering if anyone has come across anything like this before? Thanks!

Correct, there have been Seamaster geneve models. Maybe ask for a picture of the inside of the caseback to check whether the case reference matches this model

What they ^^^^ said.

However, the watch is a bit of a dog and unless it's very very cheap, keep looking.

Yep - Some Geneves can legitimately have Seamaster casebacks, however, unless that watch is a tenner I'd keep looking.

Agree with all the above. Look at the lugs - the bare metal is showing through, and all 4 lugs are a different shape. The only good thing about this watch is the movement - but only for Salvaging and using in a different watch

I've checked and the reference matches a Seamaster rather than a Geneve.

There are Seamaster Geneves, but you don't want this one. Keep looking.

Here’s mine, and yes it has a Seamaster caseback. Hopefully it provides some criteria when considering your purchase. Be patient!

Hi 👋 maybe late but look mine ; it’s 18 k case and 18 k case back. I think it’s 1967 ; due the movement serial number.
Is not easy get info about this model ; and is not waterproof due is not gasket at back.
Anyway I will appreciate if you got more info.
