hi, hoping for some help - I'm in the process of buying a (relatively) local Gemini iv but theres a couple of things about the sellers online id that would worry me. I'm trying to minimise the worry with a public f2f handover but can I just check - its LE no 1275 of 2005 - has anyone seen this no sold anywhere elsewhere? Obviously, if one of you own this one I'd like to know!

If its the one is Sheffield yes its legit and been on eBay for quite some time - He will take 2800 for it FYI! I offered to come down and buy it from N Yorks but he said he didn't want a F2F transaction.

    Odd people sometimes

I sourced one from @Kringkily. Can't go wrong there. Maybe he can find another. I would be careful if no f2f offered.

Spoke to the guy and now very happy - @Spacefruit taught me the value of a conversation on the phone - you get a good feel for the seller and I liked him. Darren's steer above helped a lot too. @kringkilly was a strong plan b, but theres the added hassle of getting it to the UK. I'll post pictures at the weekend.

Its here.... 3 1/2 hour train journey each way (I wasn't going to drive seven hours on my own and had zero chance of talking the family into coming with me) to Sheffield with a bulging bag of cash in a brown envelope to meet a total stranger. I was slightly worried I was going to get mugged or turned into a lampshade as I've never handed over so much money unaccompanied before. I wanted to see the watch before handing over the dosh, which was why it was a cash deal. The meet was set for the railway station, and although my heart rate picked up a bit when I realised there was a couple of them, the large lattes they were diving into and the total lack of snooker balls in a sock soon set my worries to rest.

The watch is basically very lightly worn - how the photos looked as bad from the seller I do not know (and I can see mine aren't much better). No nicks, dents or scrapes, except for a couple of tiny marks on the bracelet. Full box and papers, a couple of spare links, a receipt and a pretty complete set of provenance for about the same amount as the last couple kringkily shifted. Given that there's usually a 'UK tax' where UK watches seem to be a bit more, or that I've not had to faff with getting a non UK watch into the country I'm very happy to be wearing it now. I'll take some better photos in daylight tomorrow, but I had to size the bracelet (is it just me who finds these really fiddly) and it was dark before I had it on a wrist.

I'll get it serviced.... but I just want to wear it a little now. While I was looking through the site for the photo of people wearing gemini ivs in front of photos of gemini ivs I saw a couple of mentions of '6-7' in the OF family. At the same time, there seem to be a hell of a lot more. Is there any value in keeping a list of the LE numbers anywhere? If nothing else, I bet we've got 1% of the total production on this forum.

I've had nearly 10 members contact me before buying one for themselves so I'd say there are quite a few, its IMO the nicest of LEs, such a beautiful dial.

I serviced a few and they are one of the nicest LE's in my view. Of course when it's easy to make one up that looks like the LE from another model, you always have to be careful with these.

    Congrats Stu!

Thanks - but your feedback went a long way to reassuring me, so you may have shot yourself in the foot.
