How much would his watch go for? .... there really is something special about watch prices! (No, he didn’t really have a Speedy, he was assassinated in 1948 but how much would collectors pay for his watch?).
He had a pocket watch. It was sold in 2009 with a pair of his glasses and some other items for 1.8 million dollars. https://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/05/india-rejects-owners-proposal-on-gandhi-items/
I read that article and there wasn't the best support for provenance other than "the dates all seem to fit." It sounded strange that Gandhi would give his glasses away as a gift on a trip, who would do that?
And I wonder what Ed White’s Ed White would be worth today. Around half a million, but I could see it going for a lot more in the right auction.
What did it go for in that auction? And what year was that? The estimates there are so ludicrously small that I'm guessing a while ago, but man...
As I recall, it went for $34k in 1999. https://omegaforums.net/threads/ed-whites-105003-serial.83173/#post-1068826 http://chuckmaddoxwatch.blogspot.com/2006/09/news-to-me-anyway-about-ed-whites.html
