So I picked this up at a local estate sale. It's missing the round pushers, and it appears the mainspring is broke. But I can't seem to get it open, after taking the screws out the back. I'm hoping a service with the needed parts will get it working. I saw Hodinkee sold one for $6,000, so I guess I did well.
Well done...See if you can avoid sending it to Gallet, but that might be the go to on parts. I’d have grabbed this too.
I’m shocked that you were even able to grab this at an estate sale. Usually dealers pick these over by the time the public gets a shot.
Very nice and desirable piece. I was noticing in Eric Wind's blog that he is looking to buy these: https://www.windvintage.com/blog/2018/6/13/wanted-watches-june-2018-2x2x6
Is that a Landeron 149? Some other Landeron? Great find. With luck it might have an Excelsior Park 4 inside. Looks like it's more likely from the Venus 150 family after taking a quick peek.
The stems inside where the pushers should be seem to be intact, and have threading. The tubes measure 3mm in diameter on the outside. Can anyone tell me what size pushers I need?
@Dre has done some good research on these. Gallet Multichron 30M "Clamshell" | Omega Forumshttps://omegaforums.net › Other Watch Brands › Other Watch Brands Forum
Gallet can service it, but they are slow and often poor communications. A couple of threads on it here on OF that I am too lazy to find for you.
Very nice find! They can be tricky to take apart because of the split crown patent, I would leave it to the professionals
Sent to Gallet in Atlanta for service. Pushers and a complete service is $1050, with an ETA around 5-6 months.
This is indeed a killer find at an estate sale. Look forward to seeing how the Gallet servicing comes out.
