·For sale or trade is a 1955 Omega Seamaster 2846 reference w/ an original black gilt dial. The dial is non-refinished and has developed an attractive (IMO) and unique patina. The case has been polished, although the bevels on the lugs and “Seamaster” and “Waterproof” on the case back are still visible. The 500 caliber movement runs, winds, and sets fine, but service history is unknown so a service is recommended prior to use.
Additional details are below, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Dial: Original black gilt dial has developed an attractive patina. Markers and hands are in nice condition. Radium lume is intact on the hands and mostly intact on the markers. "Swiss " is present below the 6 marker as expected (partially obscured by crystal retention ring).
Case: Original 34.5mm 2846-1 reference case is in nice condition but has been polished. Bevels on the lugs and “"Seamaster" and "Waterproof" on the case back are still visible.
Crown: Original signed clover crown.
Crystal: Generic crystal is clean.
Movement: Original 500 caliber movement has discoloration, presumably from use of a harsh cleaner. Movement runs, winds, and sets fine, but service history is unknown so a service is recommended prior to use. Serial number dates the watch to 1955.
Strap: Comes on a black leather strap with a steel deployment clasp. BOR available for extra cost (PM me as I have a couple options).
Price is $850 (reduced from $1,100). Open to trades for non-radium 50s or early 60s Seamasters, Constellations, Geneves, Conquests, Flagships (see my WTB/WTT here). I'll cover insured US shipping, international shipping is available but to be discussed with buyer. PayPal preferred for payment. OF seller reviews are here.
