For sale or trade is a 1951 2577 reference Omega Seamaster with a 351 bumper movement, a patinated dial, and gold breguet numerals. The dial has an even patina but appears to have been cleaned at some point as some of the text is faded and it seems that the lume plots were filled in. The case is in nice, seemingly unpolished, condition. The movement was running a couple minutes fast last I timed it, and service history is unknown so a service is recommended prior to regular use. Additional details are below, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Dial: Original, non-refinished, dial has developed a fairly even patina and features desirable gold 3/6/9/12 breguet numerals. It appears that the dial was cleaned at some point as the "Omega" and "Automatic" text is a bit faded, and the lume plots appear to have been filled in (it's possible it's just darkened lume but seems too consistently dark and too intact to be lume to me). The center of the dial has developed a slightly darker patina, and there are some marks around the edge of the dial. "Swiss" text is present below the 6 marker as expected. Despite its faults, the dial is quite attractive in my opinion. Case: Original 34.5mm 2577-8 reference stainless steel case appears to be unpolished and is in nice condition with light scratches and wear but nothing significant. Crown: Original clover crown is in nice condition. Crystal: Generic crystal has some light scratches that should buff out. Movement: Original 351 caliber bumper automatic movement has light discoloration. The watch winds and sets fine but was running a couple minutes fast last I timed it, and service history is unknown, so a service is recommended prior to regular use. Serial number dates the watch to 1951. Strap: Comes on an 18mm generic brown leather strap with steel buckle. The watch also looks great on a beads of rice bracelet, and I have a spare original Omega one if you are interested at extra cost - let me know if you're interested and I can send photos. Price is $400 (reduced from $550). Open to trades for non-radium 50s or early 60s Seamasters, Constellations, Geneves, Conquests, and Flagships (see my WTB/WTT here). I'll cover insured US shipping, international shipping is available but to be discussed with buyer. PayPal preferred for payment. OF seller reviews are here. Returns are accepted if watch is grossly misrepresented. Watch is located in Seattle, WA, USA.
There were two variants of the 2577 reference - the earlier ones (like mine above) had thinner and drilled lugs with no bevel. The later ones like yours had thicker lugs with a bevel on the outer edge and “Seamaster” on the case back. Earlier ones came with a 351 or a 354, later ones only with a 354 I believe.
