A new member with 3 posts messaged me about trading for my 145.012-67. He offered...wait for it...

    a tutone 1601

    or

    a Speedy Reduced 3511.50

That is worse than the WUSr that offered me a Breitling Steelfish and $1k for a 5512.

    Just had to share...

I'm really sorry to one-up you like this, but here's one that might not be beat:

A member of WUS once offered me "military art" in trade for one of my watches I had listed FS. Imagine a cheesy black velvet painting of Elvis, but take Elvis off and put Mussolini, Hitler, or MacArthur as the subject.

    I kid you not.

Rarely find that a trade will work for both parties. Unless friends and you have been eyeing up something in each others collection for a while and come to an agreement. Somebody offering you a watch they want rid of for something you have that they desire will rarely work.

I hear you, but when the watches in question are collector grade, it is a bit of different story.

The best part is that it wasn't a 2 for 1...it was a 1 for 1 trade offer.

Some people just cant get their head out of the cloud cuckoo clock land and habitually value their trades well above their worth. Their 'market research' rarely goes beyond wishful thinking.

I was once offered some time share in the Algarve as part of a trade on a pink gold GL. When I said I could well do without shuffling around with a town full of expat Brits in various stages of decay, he was quite miffed!

Is there some sort of stigma attached to WUS membership, other than one's ability to put up with very annoying ads?

I just sold two watches in two days to WUS members with zero posts. Very few questions, instant payment - No complaints here.

However I will NOT sell on WUS...Thanks OF for the space!

Not all WUS members are asshats & douchebags. The ones that get invited here are good people. However, since WUS got sold the migration / invasion has picked up. It's pretty easy to tell the WUSsies by the threads they start, like "If you could only buy one watch....(usually with "for the zombie apocalypse")", "What watch = what car?", "I have $5k - what should I buy?", and other immature subject matter. A lot of times we can break them of their old habits before they WUSsie up this place. It takes some ball busting, and some resist, but if they don't run away they can become valuable contributing members once they post more signal than noise.

ps - the ads were less annoying than some of the members.

The ads are ok. It's the endless stream of WRUW and FS posts plus all the BS that ULF mentioned. Each page of new posts might have 1 that post that is interesting to read.

well with 53 ads per page-load ... you cant blame the user for tuning out ...

plus my guess is today 70% of people use adblockers to begin with (the 53 number is out of my blocker)

    Just for kicks:

    WUS cost per click: $5.95
FB ads cost per click: $0.21
Reddit ads cost per click: $0.17

    Its ridiculous
