As the buzz around vintage watches grows, some (often professional) sellers are getting increasingly prosaic in their sales descriptions. Often the result is waffle, but sometimes the results are hilarious - Little did you know that Heuer's iconic Monaco actually came to be named after deceased fashion enfant terrible, Alexander McQueen, who would have been two years old when catapulting this timepiece to fame....

Maybe the King of Cool was know as Alexander to his friends? Also, they are missing the fact that he preferred Rolex ;-)

Jack Custard never went on any deep sea adventure without his trusty moon-watch.

Also: "McQueen" always matched his belt and shoes with his Tag straps.

Browsing on the bay I came across the following description for a small mechanical watch from the 60s - I apologise up front for having a laugh at the expense of a non-English speaker but I found the ‘antique atmosphere’, the dial’s ‘secular changes’ and its ‘windshield’ amusing :p

‘This is a consulting hand-wound clock. The dial is beautifully burnt silver dial. A combination of a dolphin hand with nocturnal light and Arabic letters and wedge-shaped indexes. An antique atmosphere with a small second at 6 o'clock. The case is round. The case back is a screw back. An external leather belt is attached to the lug type. Recommended for those who are looking for something different from people. Please take a look and take a look.

[Dial] Secular changes such as burning are recognized. There is no blurring of characters and memory. The needle and index have changed over time.
[Windshield] Threads and scratches are allowed. Daily visibility after wearing is sufficiently secured.
[Belt] This is an external product. Can be installed immediately. The rug is an inlay’

I knew this thread must exist. Just came across this.

    “Specifications etc.

Daily difference within } 30 seconds.
Vintage_watch_tokyo The ultimate vintage clock that carries out the eternal time -Thank you for watching.
Under the concept of [Vintage watches more familiar], we have exhibited rare collections mainly with domestic manufacturers and omega.
It is a watch that you met while traveling around the world and a clock collected in Japan, and it is a fun lineup just to look at the product page, so please feel free to see it.
Some have scratches and dirt, but it also tastes like Vintage.
In addition, we have a lineup of many things in the appearance that you can not imagine at the time, so please enjoy shopping.
    * All watches on display on Vintage are currently handed over on the premise of overhaul.
All products will be inspected and will be authentic, and will be purchased on routes from Japan and overseas.”

I, for one, hope to never taste a vintage watch. Couldn’t imagine it at the time. :D

    Serious answer...
It is probably the Japanese seller. I have no problem with the expression "taste the watch" in Japanese, so I think it is the result of a direct translation into English.
    Sorry for the boring response.

Yes, I completely understand it’s just a bad/literal translation. Doesn’t make it any less funny! No shade to our Japanese brothers!
