That is a funny story. I can imagine being in his shoes and having to deal with a fake expert.

That jeweler is an idiot and his store should be blacklisted for their incompetence.

I've had the same thing several times on various watches, the first SMPP when I tried to get a 14K buckle for it, the watchmaker at the Omega AD said he'd been working on Omegas for 30 years and knew for an absolute fact that Omega never made watches in 14K gold, only 18K gold, therefore it must be plated or capped. And he said the squirrel hallmark wasn't for gold, only the "head" hallmark. Genius.

While the dancing squirrel mark means it's a cool watch that just arrived.

Another good example of why there will never be a substitute for educating yourself - the so-called 'experts' who don't hesitate to present complete nonsense with authority and certitude.

To me, that's the funniest part. My friend took his new Invicta to Sears to take a link out and they charged him $10 there!

Yeah, I know, friends don't let friends buy Invictas. But sometimes, they can't help themselves.

The $10 was for the link removal ($4) and the insurance against the hands falling off ($6) within the 12 minutes Sears had the watch in their possession.

It takes Sears 12 minutes to remove a link? LOL

Next time come see me. I will remove the link in 1.5 minutes and charge only $3. :D
