Ok, I bought this from AGEE on the forum with the lume missing from the hands. I threw on vintage lume for a quick fix but just didn't look right. I'm really good at brown patina but green? I've never done vintage green before. Some disassembly and dropped the hands into acetone to remove the old lume. Secured the cleaned hands and prepared the tools needed. Green and tan paint (water based), lume dust, clear fingernail polish, reducer (acetone), mixing cup, mixing tools, small screwdriver (for applying lume paint to the underneath side of hands) and paper towels (for clean up). Now mix the lume to taste (took 3 times). Dip the screwdriver in the mixture and roll it on the underside of the hands. Let dry. Re-install the hands, movement, etc, and VIOLA. Still a little too green but better. I'll call it a work in progress.
Sorry. Not for hire ;-) I did have a Rolex guy one time watch me mix some colors to match because he had a customer pissed off for putting new looking lume on a vintage watch.
That is great! I may have to experiment with this some. This morning when I put on my old Hamilton (1928 vintage) and turned the light off to go to work I noticed the very faint glow coming from the lume and was thinking about how nice it would be to actually be able to read my watch in the dark.
