This beautiful vintage Railmaster is all original except perhaps the seconds hand. Its missing the mag cover spring, but a dimple was pressed into the cover which effectively secures it against the caseback. The dial field is gently and evenly faded ("topical") to a charcoal gray. The luminous material is missing from all the markers. I believe these to be the original baton hands with their original lume. The seconds hand looks to be a replacement or a relume. I believe the crystal is the factory original and it does have the Omega symbol etched at the center (photo) The case is excellent condition. The watch will come as pictured with the tan-colored SteveO custom strap. The movement is a 285 and is running strong. ADDENDUM: Obviously but the many comments, there is some controversary about the movement number ie. whether a 18XXXXXX (1961) 286 movement is appropriate for a 135004-63. The jury is still out...I'm ordering an Archive Extract. $4500 includes shipping within the continuous USA Thank you for looking. I have some good feedback here and on WUS as well as on Rolex Forums as "Juggernaut". I also have a 100% feedback rating on Ebay and I'm offering a 3 day inspection period, after which a return (buyer is responsible for return shipping and insurance) can be granted, if the watch is not what is pictured here.
Doesn't the Railmaster 135.004-63 normally have a caliber 286 movement? Is the potential buyer aware of this discrepancy?
According to another senior poster here: " ...The last 2914's I know of are all in serial range 17x, so not unlikely that the first 135.004's could be in 18x, even if most seen are in 20x ... "
But its the wrong caliber completely so what difference does it make what the serial number is? The movement is wrong.
I'm certainly not trying to be deceptive, I will go ahead and message the buyer to make sure there are no issues.
Maybe I am missing something or am a little bit slow.. The caseback of your watch is engraved as a 63 The heading of your ad indicates the watch is a 63 You posted a screenshot that indicates all 63's should have a 286 movement Your movement is a 285.. How is your movement correct for a 63? I am at a loss..
I was Under the impression that the 135004-63 is the full model number and that the -63 does not indicate the year of production. If I'm wrong, then I apologize.
perhaps @ulackfocus can share the source he made reference in this 2012 post.. https://omegaforums.net/threads/need-help-comfirming-this-railmaster-authentic-or-not.455/
hey so, I don't think anyone was being malicious here - I'm sure the OP will sort everything out with the buyer.
All the late model Railmasters are model "135004-63", it's not a date stamp, otherwise all of them would be 1963's.
Maybe this can help.... http://chronomaddox.com/omega_serial_numbers.html lots of overlapping going on in those early omegas....we see this in speedmasters as well. this could be one of the first -63s with left over 285s.... it has a 61 serial...and there are overlaps between the years and the 285 &286 movement. now i could be wrong or its the margaritas talking.
I'm reaching out to the buyer to make sure he's aware in case he won't see this conversation. Thanks for the contributions. It certainly wasn't my intention to be deceptive, just objective.
