Still having to part with some pieces to pay for the 2998 so this one's going on the block (I really have quite a soft spot for this Seamaster ... I know I'll never get another). I hope someone here will add it to a great collection, that way I can call dibs and maybe buy it back at some point. If this doesn't go to an OF member, it will be on eBay in a few days. This is a 166.171 "Big Square" running a 1012 movement serial # 37802xxx. The case is unique to this reference and is more "angular" than most of the TV dials from this era. It is more like some of the megaquartz pieces. I only added this to my collection 5 months ago so it's one of the easier pieces to let go. It was fully serviced when I bought it so there's still a good 6 months warranty left on the movement. Any problems with the watch, come back to me and I'll arrange to get it to my watchmaker. Despite the name, this isn't as big as many modern watches - it's 36x4mm, 40mm across including the crown. Correct 1238 bracelet will fit a wrist up to 205mm (just over 8 inches). There are two minor marks on the top face which you can just make out in some of the photos. It goes without saying (for my watches) that it has never been polished. It does wear large and is a very noticeable watch. Asking £1250.00 to me, postage included (unless you're somewhere that costs an absolute fortune to send to, in which case we can talk about that). The watch and I are both in the UK. As before, this sale is only open to OF members ... no dealers, resellers or passing trade - you need a posting history. So, on to the photos ... any questions, feel free to ask.
Lots of love from me... I love it But a bit cash-strapped at the moment due to some other ticking and internally combusting toys. Beautiful piece, so typical of that era! GLWS! (and please post the link from the ebay sale!)

I know ... I wish I could afford to keep them all but I have to prioritise and the 2998 is where the money is going. Just one thing to add as I'm looking at the thread - that black mark on the first photo is dirt ... or was ... I rubbed it of for the other photos but never thought to retake the first one.
A reminder that this is still available ... if someone wants to throw an offer my way, I'll consider it. I should also add that the black mark in the first photo was a (particularly black) bit of thread - it's not a mark on the case.
I was messaged out of the blue about this old sales thread .... I raised funds for the 2998 without selling this piece and it went back in to my daily watch box.
