·Hi, I'm selling a mint condition Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, Alaska Project limited edition of 1970 pieces. This watch is not only unique but it also has a very interesting background story. This watch has become a collector favorite with prices incrementally increasing at auctions.
In 1970, Omega partnered with NASA to develop the ultimate space watch, a Moonwatch that was a bit different from the then current Moonwatch models. They called it the Alaska project (it had to withstand extreme temperatures, especially those on the dark side of the Moon) and therefore Omega came up with the solution of an external casing made of red-anodised aluminium. Omega developed a couple of prototypes of these watches and they never went to space because NASA did not engage in the planned missions to the dark side of the moon. Omega then applied the technology developed in the Alaska Project in its future Speedmasters, such as the Mark II, and in 2008 they released the limited edition "reissue" of the Alaska Project watch, which is the one you see here.
The watch case measures at 42mm and is all stainless steel. It has a bright white dial and is the only Speedmaster to feature Apollo hands on the subdials. It comes with three straps, one made of black kevlar, another made of white leather with red stitching, and one original Omega velcro strap that came with the watch. All three straps are in excellent condition with minimal signs of use. The watch also comes with the red aluminum case. THERE ARE NO BOX OR PAPERS. What you see is what you get.
I accept Paypal or Bank wire. You will have 3 days to get a full refund if there is anything wrong with the watch, granted that the watch is returned in the exact condition as it was sent. Buyer pays for shipping. Please let me know if you have any questions.
$5,500 USD.
