Omega Speedmaster Professional, reference 105.012-65 “Pre-Moon” model, circa 1966. Caliber 321 movement, serial number 24002180 is 801 before Neil Armstrong’s flown Speedmaster (24002981). I am including a 1039 bracelet with 516 end links, which dates to 4/1969.

The watch is running and keeping time. However, it keeps time at different rates in different positions. At rest with the dial up, it will gain about 30 seconds in 24 hours. While wearing 16 hours and storing crown down overnight for 8 hours, the loss is about 2 seconds a day. The chronograph functions as it should, resetting to zero and no hour register "creep."

My watchmaker has examined the movement and states it is dirty. He also states the hairspring needs attention. With cleaning, lubing, and adjustment the watch is expected not to have the timing variance it has now.

Feedback from some collectors suggest selling the watch as-is. Many collectors like knowing the service history, and can advise their trusted watchmaker how exactly to proceed with repair or restoration. Therefore I am selling the watch as-is, with advice to have the movement serviced by a competent watchmaker familiar with the caliber 321 movement.

Case does show signs of polishing and wear between the lugs. The engraving on the caseback is clear and complete. See photos of the two tool scratches. The bezel is an older replacement, with a small nick at 9. Hands were likely replaced but appear to be the same style as original (just seem very clean given the age of the watch). The crystal has the Omega logo in the center.

I am uncertain about the originality of the pushers and crown, but forum experts may be able to tell from the photos. The lug at 1 o'clock looks as if it took a blow to the tip. See photos (the first of the lug hole pictures). The difference is only noticeable when one looks for it. The watch holds the bracelet/strap securely, so no functional issues exist.

The dial appears to have the original finish. While not a qualified "tropical" dial, it is turning a slightly brownish color especially when compared to a truly black dial. The tritium markers are a pleasant faded green. Only the 5 and 6 markers show some missing lume, and this is only noticed under magnification. The dial presents very nicely and is probably the strongest feature of this pre-moon Speedy.

The bracelet also shows signs of being polished. There are 25 links total, and 9 of those are stretch links which are functional. It fits my 7.5" wrist with room to spare. I'll also include the handsome black padded leather strap with alligator grain (as seen in some photos).

Overall a nice user (after the recommended service). Interesting serial number enhances the NASA Space Program connection. Desirable bracelet with stretch links that still stretch/retract. Beautiful original finish dial with great patina.

$3,880 USD includes UPSP Priority Mail shipping with insurance to an address in the United States. I am not interested in trades. Payment by bank wire preferred.
