Here's a watch that needs no introduction to the vintage Constellation collector. The word "rare" is often overused but in this case this is truly applicable as this watch infrequently comes up for sale. This dial is among the rarest iteration of the pie pan Constellation dials. Per Desmond it's believed that this early Constellation, known as the Globemaster, numbered in the 100s and were manufactured for the US market. Unlike this example, many have had refinished dials. This watch is affectionately called the “No Name” Constellation as the word “Constellation” was not printed on the dial. It’s believed this was to avoid a trademark dispute. The 2652 was the earliest Omega Constellation to feature a screw back case and is the second earliest Constellation reference after the 2648. These articles provide further details regarding this line: http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec//Globemasterpost.pdf http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.hk/2006/08/globemaster-son-of-constellation.html?m=1 This watch was recently serviced including crown replacement. As far as I know everything else besides the strap is original to the watch (including the crystal which displays the centered "Omega" logo). It features the 354 bumper movement with the proper 13 million serial number. I digitally blurred the last few digits of the serial number in the movement photos for security reasons. The number is fully intact. Case is gold capped with stainless steel. Caseback medallion shows all the stars. The dial is in excellent original condition and is a domed piepan design as these were predecessors to the more common faceted Connie pie pain dial. As can be seen, the dial contains a beautiful crosshair design with gold arrow markers. Note: the "bleb" that appears on outer edge of dial between 11 and 12 o'clock is a reflection off the crystal (see the tenth photo to compare). Movement photos were taken prior to service. Comes with a leather strap. The Speidel bracelet is not included. Price $2000 with shipping cost to be discussed with buyer.
Updated movement/caseback photos. Note the proper “oxg” marking and 13 million serial number consistent with the ref 2652 “No Name” version.
Back up for sale. Note one recently sold here last year: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-constellation-2652.160475/#post-2196124 Feel free to PM if you have any questions.
Agreed, these are quite rare, very collectible and don’t come up for sale very often. I have one in my collection and am very surprised that this one is still available.
