Up for Sale is the 1989 L-serial Submariner 16610. I sought this one out for it's vintage features: -the original Tritium "sponge" dial (the dial 30 year old dial is evenly transitioning from glossy to matte. -The lume plots are taking on a cream color. -The open 6 and 9 date wheel. -Those classic lug holes that look more "tooly" and make strap changes easier -the hollow endlinks that make these vintage models lighter and more comfortable for daily wear. I purchased this from a local brick and mortar jewelry shop in my area (Porcello's) less than 6 months ago, so it is still fresh from service. The sapphire crystal is the original with no etched coronet. There are some faint marks on it between the 5 and 6 o'clock markers and a light edge ding at around 11 o'clock. I agreed with Porcello's that it's still worth keeping the original crystal. The only replaced part is the bezel insert which has a glowing pip.... The bracelet has little to no stretch and the period correct M9 clasp code. I have good feedback here, on Omega Forum and WUS (as DIV) and I maintain a 20 year history on ebay with 100% positive feedback. And I certainly look forward to exchanging positive feedback on this transaction. $6250 includes insured shipping in the continuous USA. I would certainly be open to a face-to-face transaction if you are in the Seattle area. Thank you for looking!
It came with 12 bracelet links and with all of them installed and the clasp pin at the last position it will fit a 7-3/4" wrist. I do have an extra link if that would make the deal get done.
yeah I would need the 13th link. My wrists are a little above 7.25 and I wear the watches loose. You mentioned Porcello's serviced it. Do you know what was done or have you add a chance to look inside? We can jump on PM if you want, just thinking these are relevant questions that may help the sell anyway. Thank you, S
Also, last question for now, is the pitting on the dial there os is that just the pic? Hard to tell on pics because the other dial pic is not Sharp enough. Thank you
The “pitting” on the dial is the “sponge” dial I’m referring too....the 30 years of Tritium exposure is transitioning the dial from glossy to matte...it’s beautiful in real life. Porcello’s does a full overhaul with their Rolex authorized watchmaker. Here’s the original ad from Porcello’s, see the description. Please PM if you have further inquiries. Thank you
That phrase was coined by John P of Delray watches when he was reviewing his later model 16800. Here's the review:
Still available., price reduced to $6250 shipped And just to be clear. This is just the watch, no box or papers, or booklets; with 12 links in the bracelet.
This is a great sub Dan, be patient- the right buyers will recognize this for the deal it is. If I hadn’t spread myself too think on other goodies-I would grab it from you. I don’t “need” a sub, but I would buy one from you.
Very nice of you to say....thank you! I am in hurry to sell, and I recognize that the summer is soft time for the market.
I've been getting tons of messages asking whether the Sub is still available. YES. Until I write "SOLD" on this thread, the Submariner is still available....thank you for all the interest.
