An amazing & interesting history for sure but let us not forget that the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was in fact the 2nd wrist watch to be officially issued to NASA astronauts.
Yes officially as we do not count the battery-powered Accutron tuning fork pilot watches and Bulova mil watches they sparsely wore. Then again the very first 1959 officially procured 24 hours dial & movement wrist watches were only used during training & special events but the NASA STG - Space Task Group reasoning about the " First Watch " for the Mercury 7 astronauts was very interesting!
Of course NASA astronauts learned a lot during the pioneering Project Mercury days and the need for a good chronograph was just one thing...
