From selling the Seamaster 300 60LE to a No date or BB 58?

Hi everybody,

I am owning a seamaster 300 60th limited edition. I know it's a awesome watch. But I am a little bit unsure about the fake lime and the readability is not the best.
I am thinking about to sell it for Rolex Explorer 214270. I know that are completely different watches.
Looking forward to your opinions.

Unless you swim regularly and need 300 meters water resistance, Explorer 1 with decent 100 meters is a better GADA watch IMHO.

Thanks for the comments so far. Had the same feeling. Love the tool look of the ex1 more. Not so blinky as the Omega. I always wanted a seamaster like this one now I have one and I am not 100 % sure about the watch. If I had to sell this one or my speedmaster I would definitely sell the seamaster.

As much as I love Omega, it'll have to be the Explorer for me.

It's simply better looking in my opinion. Plus the Rolex will increase in value or stand stationary if you ever decide to sell it.

Most of us are indeed only desk divers, therefore, Seamaster looks less appealing than, say Speedmaster due to its Moonwatch lineage.

OTOH Explorer 1 is a perfect field watch with excellent legibility, lumes and classic design, that makes it an evergreen watch to wear.

Difficult choice. Given the composition of my timepieces I would go for the Seamaster. At the end of the day go for the one you want. What anyone else thinks is to my mind of negligible importance. Good luck!!!!!

I think it’s a hard choice. I’ve always liked the look of the explorer in pics, but find the case proportions a bit off and am not a huge fan of the lack of colour. For me, the SM300 LE is the winner here, esp as it looks fab on nato, strap and bracelet. Pretty versatile imo and the bezel breaks it up a bit.

My vote goes to seamaster. I like the combination of vintage design and modern movement.

Curious...why not also look at the Aqua Terra 8900? I feel like it's a better comparison to the Explorer 1.

Readability is important to me. Water resistance is important. Faux aged lume is not my favorite. I favour the Explorer.

have fun

The reason is that I am owning the seamaster 300. I am thinking about it to sell it for the Ex1

In that case, I'd go for the Explorer. Readability and lume are great, and it's a solid all rounder. I think the 300 is a beautiful watch, but something about the vintage lume doesn't seem quite right to me.
