Frightened of wearing my watches.

I am frightened of wearing my watches not for fear of damaging or losing them, but I don’t want to get “fed up” of them individually. If I did it would mean sourcing something new and different again. I think at the moment I have a good selection and don’t want to change.
I have:- 3 Omegas, 3 Rolex, 2 Tudor and a GMT on order =3. I think that’s enough at about £35k don’t want to spend more.

I think you should find a nice watch box, place them all carefully into it, the bury it in the backyard. Dig it up in 40 years.

    You're welcome.

Or better yet, give the box to me for safe-keeping!

Hello, Dr. Edelstein? About that facial 'reconstruction' we spoke of.....:p

I know exactly how you feel mate and I only have one decent watch.

Best bet is to knock out another 67 posts and then loiter around the private sales forum for a while.::shy:: When the time is right you can pass them on to our, more affluent, members and hang on to your favourite as an everyday wearer.:)

I'm debating about placing my Ed White in the safe and leaving it there. I already placed my Straight Writing in the safe and it has been there for 6+ weeks and I am not missing it. But I have bought several watches since storing the Straight Writing. So while your logic may sound like it may work (in your mind), from a practical point your plan of action will lead you to buy more watches. One enabler to another.

I'm totally confused by this thread. If you don't want to wear your watches, why have them in the first place? ::confused2::

After considering your post I have come to a couple possible conclusions:

    1. You’re not a collector

    2. You’re worrying too much

My man, i understand you.....but these watches need to be wear.

Take a deep breath, wear one and let them see the world.
Just be carefull.....or put them in a safe for next 40 years

... If you got fed up of one of your watches because of wearing it, I would sell this watch and buy another one for this money .... So you don't spend more money and your collection will not increase. It makes no sense to sit on watches you don't like to wear .. :)::popcorn::

I think this needs to be combined with the thread by the member who is scared to wind his watch for fear of dropping it.

Ask yourself what you find enjoyable. If wearing one or all of the watches in your collection is not enjoyable, sell them. There's little point in having them otherwise. Pick up another watch you will enjoy wearing. Or, take the money made on the sale and go on a fun vacation.

When I was a boy, the best thing in the world was getting a new football. If it could be in some dayglo garish colour (a winter ball), then that was worth double at least. I remember when a friend got a brand new bright yellow one. We decided to play football. We needed a ball. His was the nearest house. Perfect opportunity to debut the brand new majestic yellow sphere that would make us all play like Gazza, right? Nope. “I’m not getting my ball, it’s too new”. It didn’t make sense then and it doesn’t make sense now.

Do you hide your wife and kids out of fear of growing tired of them? ::confused2:: If you get tired of wearing your watches perhaps it is not the right watches for you... :)

Hmm. This is a new phenomenon to me;)I'd say just wear them. If you get bored, sell one! Watches are meant to be worn.

Fact: Watches were made to be worn.

Twisted fact: Watches are a tradeable commodity.

Fact beyond human recognition: Form trumps function.

End result: I don't wear my watches because they are valuable/one scratch can reduce it's value by xx%.

Suggestion: sell those watches and buy some that you will enjoy wearing.

Good grief. This thread reminds me too much of WatchUSeek. :whipped:

Wear your watches, display them, sell them, or bury them in the back yard. Whatever makes you happy.

I am not sure what kind of comments do you expect to read.

    - about your fear?
    - about your watch choice?
    - about the money you’ve spent on them?

    #firstwordproblems

How about showing us those watches and telling us their stories instead? :cautious:
