Wonderful - and how about this for an about-to-be-menaced point of view?

A sad end to the best car I’ve ever owned. RIP RS6, now down to arguing with Audi over a settlement as to how this can happen on a new car.

So what’s the market for $750,000 non street legal track cars that are not eligible to race in any series?

The oil separator split which then damaged some pipework and 1 of the small radiators and the crank shaft has a fault on it. I've sold the car back to Audi but as the car is just over 3 months out of warranty I am currently arguing over who is liable for the repair bill as I think this was all tied into an engine rebuild that they carried out the previous year.

Interesting, however, unfortunate. Were you just unlucky or has a similar fate befallen other 4.0L motors?

Unlucky, can’t find any other instances on this engine.

Wow, sorry for your loss. I had a C5 RS6 (aka "The Red Dragon") and loved that thing dearly. Although the trans failure concern forced me to sell, but it will always be one of my favorites.

Surprised regarding the oil separator, have you posted your issue on Audizine at all? I'm sure that group would be very interested to hear this story. I had a C6 S6 for about a year, and read about turbo failure... once the warranty ran out, I traded it in for the M6.

I usually change cars after 3 years but kept it on as I loved it that much. Untouchable by most cars on the road to say it's a 2.2 tonne estate. Don't go on any car forums but just got a meeting with the Dealer Principal on Wednesday to thrash out a deal.

Just waiting to see what the new 8 series drives like when it launches in November.

So I finally found the one to add to my modest collection. A face lift 996 X50 with sports seats and nav, fully loaded, triple black with an amaizing 13 stamp Porsche and specialist history. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Came across this on Instagram. For a car that had limited success in motorsports, it definitely looked the part. C4C66F36-EBD9-4A82-8704-1071FEA0B99E.jpeg

Nice to see such a beautifully restored car (Morris Cowley Six) in 'normal' use.
