Certainly made life a bit easier for the early petrol heads, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Pratt
Happily Sterling Moss is doing a bit better now, when I heard he was in hospital with a chest infection in Singapore I was worried we might be losing the man that made those Mercs famous.
Once a petrol head Some old images from back in the seventies whilst touring Switzerland, Rhone Glacier when it was clearly visible from Gletsch Lotus just visible
Worth watching this TV commercial for the new Mercedes AA Class with the lovely JLD. She's probably the only reason I watched Sienfeld . http://sundown.me.uk/technology/mercedes-aa-class.mp4
Spectacular yes, but it looses some of its beauty when its minus 45, the wind is howling and you've been walking for half an hour. Spring.... Anywhere.... Is a lot prettier.
-45 is not occurring in those regions. Too close to the Atlantic. Altitude of 1000m+ and facing the west makes for heavy snow in the winter. Not too cold. Just takes forever to melt when spring arrives and temperatures rises into positive nunbers. Not far from where the footage was from there's a glacier ski resort. With the right conditions it is not that bad paying the place a visit. Open only in July. Line up!
Only info in Norwegian I'm afraid. http://strynsommerski.com/ Norway is far stretched. Rome is closer to where I am than the most distant town up north. Stryn is in the south west.
