Courtesy of watchesz.free.fr just out of curiosity - does the Antiquorum watch have much value? I would think someone who is willing to throw down almost $10g's on a vintage Omega would have some basic knowledge about vintage Omegas. it just doesn't make any sense.
It's worth less than 10% of the final auction price. It is a redial with the dial style wrong for the case it is contained in.
People can get carried away at auctions. And they also bid on items without having stopped to check them all thoroughly.
Someone fell in love with and bought a very pretty face.... I hope they're happy with it. But 8 grand for a 266? they got seriously HOSED! ouch!
yeah, you're right..... its shiney! very shiney. and some of us are suckers for that kind of stuff. there's a solid gold caliber 500 with a two tone face down at the local shop....... freshly serviced and its sooooooo shiney! it speaks to me every time I go by...........
Yes, a classic case of 'Self-Hosing' which, in many ways, is more tragic than someone else doing it to you.
Yup! The problem is, once you find out that you've done this horrible thing to yourself, you can't even enjoy the watch. No matter how pretty it is it'll remind you of that moment of stupidity every time you look at it. So you either have to hide it in the bottom of the sock drawer and try to forget it, sell it and try to get your money back (ripping off some other poor guy) or sell it "honestly", announcing what it is clearly, loosing most of your investment. So you loose, or you loose...... or you loose. Maybe he'll get lucky, never find out what he's got, and go to his grave loving his precious Omega...... and if the rest of us are lucky they're bury it with him! (ooooo, that's mean)
