😕😕😕

[ETA: in case he/she deletes it, I am quoting this person's repeat of their identical post from 25 minutes previously]
Not identical ‘smelling pistakes have been collected’

Just to move the conversation on a bit does anyone know what has happened to Austin Kaye? I used to enjoy looking in their window (even if not buying there) but in the last 12 - 18 months their selection of watches have gone very much downhill (at least IMO)

I wasn't able to find any info on them here on Omega Forums, and so I thought I'd ask.

And now you have read some opinions on OF. Waddya think, do the Ayes have it?

You may have just answered you own question about AK with the “not buying there” statement. Dealers can only stay in business if the product moves. If they can’t sell 4 Omegas a week but can sell 40 Invictas, unfortunately they have to do what they have to do to stay in business.

Oh, but apparently Rolex dealers can stay in business not selling any watches but putting you on a waiting list- unless you buy a hideous bling thing, then you can get anything you want in addition..that business model seems to be working for them.

I have been a collector for many years and I have used this dealer on an almost exclusive basis.
Best case scenario you are the dealer you write about. Worst case scenario is you're actually a returning customer and you've overpaid by multiples on POS watches. 😗

... If you look at his website the watches on show are in the main for customers who are not collectors in the true sense of the word ...

I agree with this part of the laudatory post. The watches are generally repainted and over-polished ... and 2x to 3x overpriced. Not what is generally recommended on this forum for collectors.

And the new members who signed up to praise this dealer are doing more harm than good. They have no credibility on the forum and, whoever they are in reality, they appear to be shills.

It's like somebody is using OF to test a new spambot. There seems to be a glitch.
If you want to source a collectors Omega then you need to ask the dealer to find it for you .........
😕.....😕.... No you don't! We have members on this forum who sell good quality, vintage Omega watches on the private sales section of this forum. Those sales posts are open to the scrutiny of our very knowledgeable membership who, by the way, are not getting a cut of the deal.

A buyer needs to educate themselves about the watch they are looking for. That education is also available on this forum. If a buyer is prepared to read, learn and search a bit, there is no real need to give a dealer a chunk of cash for doing 'fakk all'? 😀

If Foweyriver.com spent a bit of time on this forum they might learn the difference between a 105.003 Speedmaster and a 105.012 or 145.012 Speedmaster.

(Quote from Foweyriver.com)
RARE OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PRE PRO cal 321 105-003-65 c1965

This is an absolutely stunning and very original example of the legendary calibre 321 Omega Speedmaster the exact same model and specification as used by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and all of the other great Apollo astronauts.

These businesses run like the internet did not exist. There was much profit to be had for this sort of transformation because there were no places to research like OF. Times have changed. A LOT. The truly nice original vintage omegas find increases in value with this access to information. The heavily refinished pieces quite the opposite.

I think the OP and shills have moved on to WUS and TRF since we haven’t heard back since 4:30. They better update their website to accommodate those guys and take the Omega’s down.
But this has been fun.

I have to agree with Hawkwood.
Whilst I have not been a collector for 14 years, ...........,,,, anywhere.

In all my years of working in marketing and communications I’m appalled at this tactic in a business based upon trust.

Here’s a tip from @Bill Sohne about how to conduct business, that they are well advised to learn from:

“I am able to boil it down to THREE things you need to have.... to be successful...

1) TRUST
2) Communication
3) Common sense..... “

Bloody fantastic pearls of wisdom.
