Everything looks OK to me. Never been a big fan of the bead-of-rice bracelet on these watches, but a few did come with them. That's probably worth $100 to $150 by itself. So $300 to $350 for this watch is decent, but not great. If you can shave $50 to $100 off the price, I would like it a lot better.

    Take care,

+1, I think it's a fair price but there might be better examples out there. There's also some marks on the subdial second area where the hand touched the dial.

My modest suggestion is to take a couple of steps back, take a deep breath and relax. At any given time, there are 9-10,000 omegas listed on ebay under the search term "omega watch" with a significant percentage of this being vintage watches. There are I am sure thousands more available from various online dealers and watch fora. Why don't you try and do a bit of homework and then come back here with a few finalists once you have truly narrowed things down. I think you will also have a greater appreciation of the feedback given to you here once you have a bit of knowledge under your belt. I think it's great that you have been bitten by the vintage omega bug but you really can't rush this sort of thing. Some of us wait years for the right piece(s) to come along - learning, searching and waiting are just as much fun as acquiring.

I suppose I did go a bit overboard with a bombardment of quite a few from Ebay & then the one above. But, I had decided to actually only focus on maybe 3, but one I really like & having been given a thumbs up is this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/17088408672...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1716wt_1114Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network. Your opinion and all others are appreciated. Finally, your point is taken...step back, slow down, look, learn & be patient..Thanks.

That one you narrowed it down to is a nice one. I think it will go for under $1000 - it is worth more but I suspect you will be able to get it for a good price. That is the only one I would pursue of all the watches you listed. But even for the price that one would go for, there is at least a few that will come up for sale every month that I would prefer simply because the movement in this one watch is not in good cosmetic shape.

Thanks...under $1,000 would be great. I appreciate your comments, as I do all that have weighed in on my many selections. Just eager to learn all in one day...Not! :)

Wow, finally a piepan I like. I hope you don't mind some competition. Thanks for bringing that darling to my attention. I would have never found it on my own.

Hey now, no sniping fellow members watches - or making jokes about it.

In case I haven't mentioned it yet, I'm pretty much a Speedmaster Pro guy. I'd be afraid to try to buy one of these dress watches after seeing how many of them have refinished dials. Why is that? You'd think they would have been gently worn, unlike the Speedmasters, which usually have original dials. I suppose one difference is the Speedmaster dials are often replaced rather than refinished. The dress watch dials are probably not available from Omega, right? Anyway, I've tested my wife's patience enough this month with the Alaska Project watch and the FrankenPanda project...and now trying to make a deal on another 2998. (Not likely.) She has taken advantage of the opportunity to buy a bunch of new furniture, I've noticed. Never fear...I promise to never bid on a dress watch.

LOL, good to know. Ok, as a Speedmaster Pro guy, what's your take on this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/17088528183...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1523wt_1112Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network.

I await your words of wisdom. Does this tempt you to push your spouse further into the furniture shopping mode?

Something to consider before you bid...you will not be able to use the outer thermo-case from your Alaska project watch on this one! :)

Although the reduced/automatic model looks a lot like the pro, I just don't consider anything a pro other than the "moon" watch...including the pre moon and pre pro Speedmasters, of course. I don't look at anything else. Weird, I know. MSNwatch here might be a better source of info for any Speedmaster. I'm no expert...more like an enthusiast.
