Hello everyone, Instead of buying more watches, i am trying to get the watches i have in running order. This was bought as a parts watch & as always, it makes me feel bad to break a watch up for spares, it seems an undignified end for a watch, so I am trying to bring this back to life. its a Cal 30T2 Ref 2179 and in need of the following parts. 1. Dial - Non-Tropical Omega Ref 2179 military style dial 2. Hr hand - approx 10.5mm long, silver 3. Min hand - approx 12.1mm long, silver 4. Sweep second hand - approx 12.3mm long, blued, black also ok. 5. Crown - Correct 2179 crown is a bonus, but will take an Omega crown that fits. Hands are of the "syringe"/military style. The hour hand & sweep second hand are broken, and i am trying to find an original 2179 dial before i consider a redial. I would really appreciate if anyone can spare any bits that they are not using. All parts in any condition will be considered. Thank you. This is what the watch should look like, Photo lifted from this thread https://omegaforums.net/threads/questionable-omega-us-army-watch-caliber-30t2sc-ref-2179-3.52845/ ( Thanks JimInOz)
Jules Borel has a listing for the crown. http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=OME_CS^2179 I would talk to them about hands. They have a large list of Omega hands by size and may even have the blued seconds hand. http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=OME_280 http://cgi.julesborel.com/cgi-bin/matcgi2?ref=lmxD[MU I have also seen these “pencil” style hands on eBay. Take a look, you might get lucky. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-ORIGINAL-OMEGA-Blue-Hour-Minute-Hands-280RBS30-For-Omega-280/201984632983Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network The dial will be close to impossible to find in decent condition. The lacquer finish on these was flawed when new and there was a lot of radium. Almost all are going to have some level of moisture damage from water vapor getting under the lacquer. Your best best might be a redial, or simply replace the other parts and leave it alone. This is considered “excellent” condition for a 2179 dial: Good luck with your project. Please let us see it when completed. gatorcpa
Thanks OF for the space. A big Thank you to the members who alerted me to parts being sold & who gave much appreciated advice. I've been looking for over a year & this comes along
ST Supply seems to have the crown as well. http://stsupplyonline.com/catalog/crowns-c-28_421_876_904.html?page=5&sort=2a Older part numbers are 8100-1084W or 21079. Call Jules Borel also. If you are going to restore the watch, might as well do it right. gatorcpa
