Hi guys, I am looking for a pre moon ed white speedmaster (no crown guards) for a little while now. I found this watch in Germany on chrono. What do you guys think, anyone with specific advice about these types? https://www.chrono24.com/omega/speedmaster-moonwatch-105003-ed-white-modell--cal321--id6764593.htm Thanks so much already. Arthur
@arthuromega What do you think, what can you tell from the pictures? What are you missing that you need to judge value?
Service dial. To mention just one point. This one has been around quite a while. I would actually not buy it without Extract. Actually not at all.
Ok. Thank you for your response. Do you know any other pre moon which is for sale? By the way can you buy a good one for 13k dollars anyway?
Sounds like you need to do a bit more reading before you're ready to buy. Check out the FS forums here and speedmaster101.com as a starting point.
Not really since going rate for a good Ed white is $17,000. What exactly do you mean by pre moon? Pre professional with straight lugs? Or just without the moon caseback?
Not really sure what you are referring to, as most of what I see is damage from water intrusion, so corrosion. In some spots it appears attempts to clean it up were made, but in terms of watchmaker induced butchery, this is pretty tame...
@arthuromega, considering your other Ed White WTB thread with 1 post. Maybe you should take your time and start reading a bit about vintage speedmasters. They are a minefield.. I have the feeling you come here at OF, wack 13k on the table, use the forum knowledge, buy a ed white and run without contributing to the forum. At least you could share your own observations about a watch. But I have the feeling there's a bit to be learned before you buy.
