Found a store in my neighborhood that sells vintage Omegas. All the cases looked polished but it was fun seeing some pieces I've only seen pictures of online. https://www.oldpasadena.org/visit/directory/view/112/shants-clock-and-watch-repair
Very sad hearing about the cases, quite exciting line up otherwise I'd probably leave a 1 star review for damaging vintage pieces
It's really sad to see pieces that have been sales prepped to this extent. Those cases sure are shiny However, it really IS fun to see a physical selection of watches you've only ever seen online, even if they are in less than perfect condition.
I used to visit Pasadena several times a year pre-pandemic (doing work with colleagues at JPL) and discovered that shop several years ago. He has a nice selection, but all are over polished and most have redials — albeit good ones. Still, the prices weren’t horrible, at least not a few years ago. If you weren’t a collector looking for a perfect, original watch, you could do worse for the price if you just wanted a nice vintage Omega.
Place like this in Chicago. Decent but pricy repairs. Display cases of polished and redialed at high prices. Occasionally however one can find a diamond in the rough. Folks who buy are generally not collectors.
