Forget the awful watch shot, is there a Doctor in the house?!

I am a physician. I can't tell if you saw a doctor or not after the jovial posts. It appears to me that this lesion is an actinic keratosis and needs some freezing (cryotherapy)to burn this out and let healthy skin grow back in. This is a result of sun damage and what appears to be your Scotish-Irish heritage skin type. This is a "pre-cancer" and can develop into skin cancer if left unattended. Cheers

👍 now folks, this gives a new meaning to the Affordable Care Act! 😜

Yeah, now all the OP needs is some dry ice, a carpet knife, some gauze, and a bottle of whiskey. 😲😁

mmm, it's a little concerning as I did actually go down to our local surgery straight away and was given an appointment on the same evening to see a doctor. Unfortunately the said doctor was rather on the young side (I've got socks that are older), rubbed the white crusty top off and said it was nothing to worry about but would prescribe a cream to apply twice a day 'if I wanted', although with the warning that 'it might come back'😲

They did tell me that it was non cancerous which was what I wanted to hear but I can't say I was filled with confidence as I headed for the door.

Thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to reply, the second doctor on the forum to contact me and is much appreciated, especially as you both came to the same conclusion..........think I need to go back and ask to see someone hopefully more experienced.

You can scratch the top of but it obviously does not make it go away. The top is just crusted dead skin. It is not emergent but you do need it frozen or removed.

What my doctor told me is that it is similar to a non cancerous mole. It is genetic and she did not say anything about pre-cancerous. She said it only needed to be taken care of if ti bothered me. the scaly part that you scratch of is what the cream will treat. if you freeze it it takes the whole thing out...sort of but not always. This was literally tuesday. treatment costs about 120 dollars. Insurance will cover it if it's scaly. Here are very unattractive pics of the healing. they where frozen only 3 days ago so still scaly. I am also adding a picture of my AT just to make it all more bearable.

Scaly? Do I have to give you a custom avatar message that contains something about reptiles or fish skin? 😁

Hmmmm, Sergio Scales..... has a ring to it, no?

This is actually a different lesion than the one on Spike's wrist. This appears to be a dermatofibroma and is benign. I actually have one on the same spot of my calf. This are harmless and can be removed if it bothers you. An actinic keratosis can become cancerous. Also, a dermatofibroma is not caused from UV sun exposure but an AK is. Sorry to be so ocd but it can be cancerous and if I give medical advice, I want it to be as accurate as possible.

Good news Spike but how the hell did you get a doctor's appointment, round these parts, so quickly. Most people die of old age before they get to see my doctor.

I had a small spot on my ear just like that which wouldn't go away.
The dead skin layer kept coming off but it wouldn't "heal".
My GP sent me to a dermatology specialist who did a biopsy. Called the next day and suggested surgery to remove an active skin cancer (forget what it was called).

It took two goes under general anaesthetic, a week or two with a drain for the skin grafts and my head bandaged like a deranged Sikh.

Go and see somebody qualified is the best non-qualified advice I can offer.

Hey, you should have gotten your surgery done right before Halloween.
