Foldover Clasp Vs. Pin Buckle ~ Seamaster

Hi folks

I'm a newbie to this forum! I own a new Hesalite Speedy Moonwatch that I bought a couple months ago and I just purchased the new Seamaster 300M Summer Blue model. When I bought my Speedy at the Omega Boutique, I also purchased the black rubber strap and Foldover Clasp that I'm currently wearing.

I want to purchase an Omega blue rubber strap for my Summer Blue Seamaster and wanted to get some feedback. I understand Omega offers a "Pin Buckle" and "Foldover Clasp" for the two piece strap. Setting the cost aside, I would love to get some feedback on the issue in terms of comfort, looks, practicality, etc.

Thanks in advance.

My vote is for the clasp version simply because it reduces the likelihood of dropping the watch when putting it on and taking it off.

It also looks neater without the tail of the strap at 12 o'clock. The only other brand that I've seen that has that design is Hublot.

Thank you. I never took into consideration the likelihood of accidentally dropping the watch when placing it on or off my wrist with a pin buckle.

TH also does that, a little bit better as it uses a clamp system so the fit is more perfect.

I have my SMP on pin buckle OEM rubber and it’s perfect for me. No complaints at all.

Very comfortable and size is ideal for my 6.5in wrist (I wear it on the last/smallest hole).

I haven’t tried the foldover strap, but I have no reason to. As others have noted, with the pin buckle you just need to be careful not to drop your watch when taking it off and putting it on. The rubber is a bit stiff at first, which takes some getting used to. But it seems to be softening up and I love it.

Get the foldover clasp, much more practical without the keepers and easy when you just want to "air out" under the strap.

My first grown up watch was a Hamilton Murph that I put on a nato strap. Learned that dropping lesson in a very dent-y way.

Yep, and I just remembered a few modern Zenith Defy models having it too. So basically, whatever Jean-Claude Biver touches!

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to opt for the foldover clasp. I also think it looks more streamlined.

Did you consider the small size rubber strap?

I think the pin buckle causes a strap to wear out quicker than a foldover clasp.

To be honest no - I bought the watch on rubber (the SMP bracelet is just too chunky for my wrist) and the regular rubber strap size is a very comfortable fit for me. I find the keepers do their job well, so I’ve no complaints about excess strap.

I can totally understand someone opting for the foldover clasp though given the option, for convenience if nothing else.
