I am in the U.S. and I was able to add two to my shopping cart earlier. When I tried to add a third one it said that the quantity requested was not available.

Same. I was able to go all the way to check out last night and earlier this morning. Now, it says to contact the boutique.

It seems to come and go for availability, maybe because people adding it to their basket to test the system. Probably a handful available.

I suspect this could be regional even within the U.S.

Alternatively (or also), I wonder if it’s possibly tied to whether a person has an account/is logged in?

I think you are correct about it being regional, I couldn't add it to purchase it.

I tried logging in and the same result.

Twelve hours ago the FOIS was available on the US site, now when I try it it shows 'Contact Boutique'. It comes, it goes. Whether it is due to actual availability minute by minute, or regional quirks in their eCommerce system is unknown.

Interesting reading. Looks like there's still some demand for the FOIS out there, and a few hidden away in back rooms that dealers had forgotten about.

That's how I got mine. I had asked about it with my OB manager and he said that he didn't think any would come up. I got a call from him awhile after and he said something interesting had come up, that a FOIS became available. I was surprised when I picked it up and it was 1596X, the one that I saw in the case and that sold before I could buy it was in the 888X range.
