I have this old beat up Flightmaster that I bought a couple of months ago.

I was really intrigued by the styling and relationship to the Speedmaster, but the apparent massiveness made me hesitant in buying without actually trying it on first.
Found one for sale locally and loved it straight away.
Now to my question: how does the GMT hand work? As in how is it connected to the gear train of the modified 861 caliber. Is it by another set of gears or by some sort of clutch or other watch specific invention?

Hope that some of the watchmakers here might have some insight into this complication (if it even counts as a complication)

    Thanks in advance.

@Stuie thanks for that, I still cannot work out how the GMT hand function but it seems quite complex with at least 10 parts listed.
