15277328925181662067680.jpg I've been wondering how rare are flat dials on 2998 speedmasters. I've seen many pictures of early 2998-1 and -2 and most of them have a slight step but totally flat are rare. Is it possible that flat dials were early service dials or a different variation of dials??? How rare are these dials??
    Thanks
    David

I believe the 2998-1/2 dials come in, at least, 2 flavors.
Not certain which is more prevalent.
These days, they are both rare.;)

I guess these early flat dials are so extremely rare that not many have seen one and can input. One thing for sure it that they are simple and beautiful.

I wouldn't put them into service dials - here is one of 25 first serials of the 2998-1 batch, flat O, no step, like 2915-3. All correct and original.

    And a 2915-3 for comparison:
