Fitting crown flush to case on omega moonphase 2471

Hey guys,

I found a crown that was specified for use on case reference 2471. And when fitting the crown onto the pendant tube it does not come flush with the case.

Why would this be? When I’ve looked at other examples online they do not have this gap. Could it be that’s the tube is too long? If so how would I solve this?

Surely filing it down until the gap is closed would work but I didn’t want to do this in case is was a major “no no”.

Thank you for your assistance 😀

While it's possible the tube was replaced with one that is too long, more likely the crown looks like the correct one but is not in fact correct for this case.

I bought this 33009 for 2471 so unless the seller (gleave & co watch parts) sent me the wrong one this should be the correct crown for this watch.

Is there a length that the correct tube should protrude from the case? That way I can see if a wrong one was fitted.

Thank you 😀

Looks like the crown is too large. Otherwise. It might need a taper on the bottom to fit between the gap. Looking at my Bestfit guide.

It says crown 3308

Hermetic, diameter 5.30 mm, tap 10 (although somewhere else says 9), medium post

Light dome shape with a small taper on bottom edge

Can't find a Bestfit image and search under their category number doesn't show anything. I'm assuming the numbers are different than Omegas guide numbers, so probably not much help

You could get an identical stem tube (measurement should be available) and do your tests on that.

For how much it gets in the crown etc, and may be after that you can shorten/file. the one on the case- knowing you have a at any rate suitable replacement ready.
