I’ve spent many hours looking for a suitable 1956 model but nothing popped up that I want to invest in, so I’ll keep the birth year watch in the background and buy something first that I want.
The Seamaster chronometer 3 hander 168.024 currently grabs my attention, especially when on a beads of rice bracelet.

this one’s £1200 on eBay:

Here’s the full advert on eBay

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Omega-Se...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

It’s had a recent service, though by the seller who presumably isn’t an Omega specialist. The advert states that it’s unpolished. The seller tells me there isn’t an obvious colour difference between movement and rotor in reality.

I’d appreciate your comments as to the apparent condition and cost.

Looks good and the price seems fair IMO considering it's just been serviced. I don't see anything majorly wrong with it, but the discoloured rotor may indicate that it's a replacement part, and the wear on the outside of the movement where the rotor slides over could possibly be a sign of a worn rotor pinion, so make sure to check this with the seller. Another minor thing to think about is the pitting on the inside of the midcase, and that there is very likely more pitting on the inside of the caseback, underneath the new gasket. That being said, I don't think many collectors would really care about such minor pitting.

I'd wait for a few others to chime in before you pull the trigger on it.

Rotor has been replaced which means the rubbing issue @speedb pointed out has likely been addressed. The price is high a bit IMO even considering the service. Condition is good, but not spectacular. Ask if there is a guarantee on the service. A watchmaker will typically give you a year. Maybe if you deal with them directly you can negotiate a better deal, and/or work face to face which is always nice.
