    Friends,

I am considering buying my first vintage omega watch. A seamaster 166.0206 with colored dial. Wanted to get an honest opinion from the group. I fear the one I found may be overpriced. Please share your thoughts!

    Many thanks,

The dial has been poorly repainted in a fantasy colour scheme

Which is why the seller states that the dial has been 'restored'.

I'm afraid it’s not worth the asking price or even a fraction of it.

A “new old stock” watch has not been serviced, has not had the dial refinished or replaced, comes with papers, original box and outer shell. And in some cases, a copy of the original purchase receipt. The vendor says the dial has been replaced by a “new old stock dial”. A red flag, for sure. If it was everything the seller claims (except for a swapped dial), it may be in the ballpark of what they are asking. Otherwise, no, in my opinion.

In this shade of turmeric, I would have guessed it was redialed in India. Looks almost like paper.

A vendor based out of Korea and LA that goes by vividlilly and now new aliases all the time sells these. They can generally be spotted as the tend to switch picture backgrounds on a rare basis. For an entire year there was “5” vendors all with similar websites selling watches like this with the same tan marble background.

(I know what you meant by tumric though)

Humble and sincere apologies to the Mod who deleted my earlier post (and presumably the post quoting and berating me). I didn't think my post was all that offensive but since it was my first to be removed, I now realise it must have appeared so.

I will try to be a better person!

Gents I really appreciate the input and have since done some research. I would like to put forward this watch, as an alternative, which looks more legit imo.

Certainly the price seems rather high, but it is said the watch has been serviced.

My newbie eyes can’t tell if it has been polished or not, but it looks in pristine conditions.

Let me know your thoughts on this one: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/VINTAGE-197...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

    Many thanks in advance !!!

Not my cup of tea personally, but it looks ok except for the missing lume in the hour hand.

Excellent spot. Why is this not your cup or tea? Just curious.

I am more partial to the classic "golden-age" vintage style than 70s designs.

Keep in mind that this case has an integrated bracelet, so make sure that you like the look of that, and that it has enough length to fit your wrist size.

Why eBay? I’d recommend searching for and purchasing your first vintage time piece on OF.

Please post pictures instead of links - or include the links if you like. The culture here is to have the photos for the historical record.
