Hello looking to purchase my first omega vintage for under $1000 Australian dollars. Any thoughts suggestions ? I did have a look in chrono24 however I am sceptical of products coming from foreign countries as I am new and unsure if I receive a frakenwatch ontop of import custom duties tax and etc. so hard to find a decent one 馃檨

You should be able to buy all three of those for under $1000. None of them very attractive or highly sought after.

Given your relatively high budget I'd advise you stick around here, learn some stuff and stake out the Private Sales Forum, there's always a decent selection of watches in your price category and they are being sold by members here who generally have some form of reputation to uphold 馃榿

Hard to tell from the rather poor photos but, despite the above comments, the gold plated Geneve from the late 60s and the slightly older Seamaster 166.003 are both well worth getting if the condition and price are right.

Both are collectible (I have them both) and the Geneve will have the 552 movement and the Seamaster the 565 movement, both reliable and easy to service with parts readily available.

Depending on condition (and unserviced) I鈥檇 reckon that the Geneve would cost in the current climate 拢300 - 350, and the Seamaster 拢400 - 500.

Both are a pleasure to own and wear. If the price is right I鈥檇 opt for the Seamaster.

These are mine

Tastes differ, as pointed out by @Spruce. I also have a 165.003, which is the same case as the 166.003. I don't much care for the Cyclops window but that's easily fixed. For me this case is the high point of understated dress Seamaster design. But it's not obvious from most photos and you really have to handle one to see that.

Completely agreed.
