Hi guys. 21 years young and got my hands on a vintage Omega Seamaster. It is all original. Case, caseback, crown, dial. Supposed to be working well, according to the eBay seller. It's a 1950s cal.503 number 16528865. What can you tell me about this one? Here's a photo: http://imgur.com/a/i3C2X Edit: added all the photos I got into this link. Can't attach them from my iPhone for some reason. Please forgive. http://imgur.com/a/IElSq Thanks so much guys. I cannot stress enough how thrilled I am with this!
I will let people far smarter than me tell you anything. But welcome to the club - I am a young guy too but we are in good company. You should really just post your photos to the messages - I am sure someone will ask you to read the stickies.
I tried to but it brings up some kind of error. I'm using my iPhone so that might be the issue. Thank you, I'll go and read them right away. I added more photos on a different link
Nice watch! You should be able to upload photos on an iPhone, I do it almost every day without issue. Just tap "Add Photos" and select the ones you want to upload from any of your photo albums. Then tap them to add to your post once they're done uploading.
Thanks a lot pal! Thank you! I tried but it shows up an error: "The contents of the uploaded image do not match the file's extension". How do I fix this?
A 16XXXXXX serial number suggests the watch was manufactured in 1958 (http://www.chronomaddox.com/omega_serial_numbers.html)
You have to download the picture to your phone's picture album first. Then you can upload the picture from the phone to the forum by clicking the "Add Photos" button. You cannot copy directly from a website to the forum. Not going to work. gatorcpa
I got some xxxx for trying to be educational elsewhere, so I thought I'd be the nice guy here to compensate Promise I worn't make a habit out of it
Thank you Vicke! The pictures are on my phone. Please believe me, I'm not trying to fool anyone. Even tried through Google Chrome. Oh and one more question if I may. It was listed as fully working and keeping good time but the seller also said that it's recommended to send it out for a service. Should I get it serviced even if it keeps good time?
Unless you can get hard evidence (receipts, bill of work etc.) of a recent service by a qualified or reputable watchmaker, then your first task is to find a watchmaker and get it cleaned, lubricated and adjusted (simplistically speaking). Cheers Jim
