Hi All, I'm brand spanking new here and hoping to get some advise on my first vintage Omega purchase. For starters some general comment on a 1960's Seamaster 600 or De Ville would be welcome as well as what sought of price I should be paying (my budget is max $1000) I spotted this on eBay and would welcome some advice - http://m.ebay.com/itm/332012564778?_mwBanner=1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network I would be willing to pay a premium for some peace of mind as I have zero experience in purchasing a vintage watch. Cheers Zane
No shortage of original seamaster 600's on ebay. There's usually at least one running via auction. Expect to pay around £350 for a reasonable one with a bit of patience.
Okay, so a member approached me with a watch of his which he has offered to sell. A 14765 for $1000....would appreciate some advise/comments as I want to pick up a good clean watch and I'm not keen to spend time hunting down a bargain. Another challenge, the seller is in Sweeden, I live in South Africa....I can arrange for to get it sent by courier to friends in London but was wondering how best to handle the payment/hand over - thanks for the help
Zane if you have be approached by a member, consider the members length of membership, experience, posts and references provided you as well as the watch.
Hi Zane, Welcome! I think @cicindela provided with some very sound advice. Next to that (or rather, alongside that), it is considered to be a bit....uhhh.....awkward....... to ask on a Forum on the deal you are about to make (or not) with a member of that same Forum..... From my perspective: the cal and case and all look fine. Price-wise: I would look in the 'For Sale' part here, and try to do you own research too. Think there will be not many people wanting to comment on price since it is a member you are dealing with. My2Ksh W
Indeed. Without commenting on the specific sale - it is useful to look at eBay for sold prices for the same model. As well as that check out the for sale section here as no doubt the same model will have been sold at some stage on here as well. Also, you can check out the forum https://omegaforums.net/forums/watch-seller-profiles/ that has feedback on members here and get a feel for any previous transactions. The watch looks good to me (I am no expert) so once you've checked a few things out decide if you're happy with the price and the seller and... good luck.

I just tried. It works for me. But you can also copy / paste the item number into eBay's search field.

And to rattle the cage even more.... https://omegaforums.net/threads/comments-on-this-7912-bracelet-please.35623/ Good hunting! W
A watch got away from me once (well, more than once ) cuz I dithered .... If a watch you've found fits your criteria and seems what you're hunting for, and the condition is really good, then go for it. Like you've guessed, the bracelet in the pics above are getting up there pricewise. Be prepared to shell out ... a lot more cash ..... for bracelet + watch (instead of watch only) And @Zane ... I think you know which of the two watches in your sights is better...focusing on condition. As for me, I would go after the watch in better condition. The better conditioned watch is usually offered by the member here on OF (which seems to be the case here as well)
