First Seiko headed my way

I have been looking at vintage Seiko watches for a while now and finally took the plunge. I have a 6139-7100 headed to me, it will need a service and crystal, but I am looking forward to getting it running. Here is a picture cropped out of the auction I won.

I have read a little about doing a barrel jewel upgrade but I am still a little on the fence about this. Anyone have any experience on what difference this will make?

Replacing the bush on the bridge and jeweling the hole in the main plate can improve performance significantly, especially if the plate hole has elongated.

Most 6139s I see need this and it's not hard to do.

HOWEVER!!!!!

If you are new to "watchmaking" it's not the job for you, and additionally, to do it properly it requires special tools. Specifically a jewelling tool with reamers etc, broaches for refining the hole diameters and countersink tools to clean the hole in the plate.

It can be done, it depends on the condition of your movement.

I am definately not going to be doing any service on this watch myself. I am still at the point where I am practicing on very inexpensive movements.
