Looks like a great forum here! I have been looking for my next watch. The only watch I have that is worth mentioning is a Tag which I love. I was looking at Omega and ran across the Speedmaster 329.30.44.51.04.001 https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...ronometer-chronograph-44-25-mm-32930445104001 It looks like a spectacular watch and quite a bit less than the similar looking Daytona which isn't even available to mere mortals such as myself. https://www.rolex.com/watches/cosmograph-daytona/m116500ln-0001.html Does anyone have any experience with the Speedmaster? Thanks!
Here you go ( not a racing like the one you linked, which is a fine watch also ) https://omegaforums.net/threads/to-...edmaster-fence-just-do-it.88972/#post-1152071
If you like the racing style the new iteration of the Speedmaster Mark II could be an option - I tried it on the wrist at an OB recently and it’s not as chunky as it looks on the website. There is a black version too. This would be my next watch if and when funds allow
This is the Speedy Racing and Daytona that I own and wear regularly. Both are very nice watches, keep good time and are handsome. The speedy is much lighter and due to the colors, more "sporty" looking. The Daytona is much heavier due to the white gold and passes for sporty or classy. But I must tell you, the Speedy is a very nice watch that feels and looks well, most people would enjoy it and is a fun watch to wear. However, truth be told, the Rolex Daytona is a more substantial watch of much higher quality, grade and class. A true high-end gentleman's watch! Just my .02 worth.
I actually had both the DaytonaC and white Speedy Racing a few months back. I prefer the utility of the Speedmaster as the time was far easier to read in different lighting conditions, date was useful, and chronograph pushers had a more luxurious clicky feel. However, the 44.25mm is too big for my 6.5" wrist and the thickness, even though they made it thinner compared to the 9300 version, is still too thick. Aside from the ability to get the Daytona, it all really comes down to how it looks on your wrist.
