    Hello,

    First post for me. :)

I decided to buy a watch and I have been offered to buy this Omega Seamster Cosmic from 1970, but as I don't know too much about watches I was hoping to get your opinions if it is a good idea to buy it.

Here is a few pictures. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks in advance,

    Depends on the asking price.

The asking price is 765 euro. Sorry I should've mentioned that in the post.

Close to twice the value, IMHO.

That is a lot for that watch, likely more than you could resell it for.

However, once the experts chime in and tell us if its original (looks ok to me) and if it carries a good movement..... It will come down to how attractive you find the watch. It is after all hundreds of Euros and not thousands.

If it were my money and the guys on the forum proclaimed it original I'd likely pick it up and love it forever.

But then I ride a Vespa and love my Ford........so my taste is always in question.

Some of these guys own Timexes by the way.

Thanks for your reply. Even if it comes with original box and papers?

It's my watch. Feel free to Comment, I'm interested in your opinion. I Know that's s tad over the asking prices compared to eBay. But consider this Is an untouched example bought from the first owner with Box and Papers, Original bracelet with all end links etc. Am I unrealistic with my pricing?

    Cheers Max

The price may seem high at the moment, but from an Australian perspective, it's not so high that I would ignore it.

Take into account the condition of the watch head, the matching bracelet and a full set and the price will soon be forgotten, the pleasure of ownership will last much longer.

Hmm Seller in Europe, high value-added taxes, mid 500 series movement, box and papers, very tidy with a nine row BOR Seems reasonably consistent with what I see. Condition is upper end. Perhaps 50Es over what I's want to pay given the above, and maybe you could haggle a bit.

Personally I do not find the price too high and also in a few years time buyer might even be able to make some money. This is full set with bracelet as well. Here in Denmark I would sell the watch alone for cca. 600€ (without the bracelet) so getting full set for 765 is kind of reasonable especially if you intend to keep it and wear it for a while.

It's a nice watch that appears to be in original good condition and comes (apparently from the pictures) with box and papers. Based on these factors, it would be at the high end of the range these watches sell for. Do your research (eBAY, salaes posts, etc.,) and find that range.

Personally, I really like the dial layout and have owned a few of these in the past. I never kept mine, since the size was a bit too small for my taste.
