Hi all, not been on the forum for some time but thought I'd post a picture of my newest addition from the bay. My first Speedmaster A couple of Mark's on the dial here and there but apparently can only be seen from certain angles. I like the white dial rather than the traditional black. Looking forward to it arriving Any opinions welcome
I don't suppose anybody could tell me what year these watches were first manufactured? The seller said it's from the 80's but from what I've found on the net its from the 90's or early 2000. It's model 3513.30 apparently. Also as movements go, how reliable is the movement?
Mine are all cal. 1155 from the early 90's. The 1152 is based on the ETA 7750 and, according to @Archer, is a well-made movement, https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-ebay.31222/#post-352058. I believe the references were made beginning in about 1998.
That's a great watch and I agree that the silver/white dial is more attractive than the black because it is two-tone. It will also be more accommodating to new strap choices because it is a neutral colour!
It's unfortunately ended up going back to the seller as there were Mark's on the dial that really spoilt it for me. I'll keep my eye out for another one in the future, hopefully in better condition dial wise or maybe even hold out for a speedmaster professional? I have my eye on a Seamaster professional as well as I've always fancied one.
Cheers, is it a common problem for these to have poor condition or marked dials after 20 years as it doesn't seem that old considering? I thought it may be water damage. The seller told me it was apparently normal on these?
There are a lot of variations on these. I think you can find an unmarked one easy, and maybe one you like better easy.
I linked you to the Yahoo Auction Japan because there is a shit-pot full of speedmaster dates at reasonable prices. I just searched the reference you were looking at. I use the Buyee service for purchases but there are several others.
I'm glad I returned it, the seller wasn't happy but I wouldn't have enjoyed it. In fairness he said there were two Mark's on the dial which he claimed were virtually invisible, but I could see them from every angle I looked aswell as the oxidized hands and a few extra Mark's here and there.
I’ve got one recently from eBay/elady but it’s movement is golden and different to one I saw in https://watchguy.co.uk/service-omega-speedmaster-175-0043-calibre-1155-valjoux-7750/. Can I please guys ask for your opinion and whether you think it is fake or real. Thanks
I don't believe Omega ever had a 17 jewel version of the Cal. 1155, so to me it seems likely that someone replaced the movement with an older ETA 7750, and put the Omega rotor on it.
That’s what I first thought, but doing some research I found this one from the link I mentioned before. Movement seems to be the same but different color and different rotor.
I see an ETA symbol here, rather than an Omega symbol...so are you sure it says 1155 in this area? I've serviced a lot of Omega's with 7750 based movements, I don't believe I've ever seen one with 17 jewels, or with the bridges shaped they yours is - in particular the chronograph bridge. Not saying is isn't possible, but for me seems unlikely.
I just found this article about the Valjoux 7750, and it mentions a version of the 1155 (17 jewels) using this movement. https://www.watch-wiki.net/index.php?title=Valjoux_7750
