My first acquisition is a ref 1500 circa 1972. It has a matte black dial in decent condition if you discount the lume dots that have come off at 10, 1 and 2. You can see still see some of the residue where it used to be along with noticeable tritium corrosion on the minute and hour hands. Bracelet is a 78350 which was purchased separately. I believe the 78350 was released around 1975? I'm more of a leather strap guy and I think this will look amazing on a nice brown vintage strap. But I am quite loving the feel of the bracelet already!
Very nice, I also have a late 60s/early70/s date. They are great watches and can be had for such reasonable prices. This watch was my fathers so it has been in the family since new.
That is an amazing looking dial! There's something about the raised indices on the 1500s that makes the entire dial pop out more than the other models I've seen.
Recently had this caseback opened to take a look at the caliber as I believe the 1500 sported both the 1560 and the 1570. Turns out mine was the 1570 and I couldn't stop looking at it. I had to stop as I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of the watch seller. I find the pink teflon coating reversing wheels so unique to Rolex.
