Hello folks. Just sharing a pic of my new purchase, & first chrono: a vintage Tissot. The dial was described as patinated, but it looks spectacular. It is a reflective blue, covered in silver spots. It looks like a production effect, rather than patina, to me. Perhaps one of you know. After seeing it, I purchased a blue lizard skin band. I love it. The non-rotating bezel is well worn, but its only function is to protect the crystal, I think.
This kind of patina of the dial is well known, especially for the blue version. The Seastar (Navigator) is a cool watch, also great on a racing strap Best Nico
Hi - congratulations on the aquisition. Looks to be the same model as mine (see pic below). The movement in these is a Valjoux 7733. Some of the bezels on these were made of plastic, and some made of metal - looks like yours is a plastic one and the numbers/markings have worn off (most probably deliberately after it became worn anyway).
Wow, excellent condition! Btw there was a NOS blue dial for sale this weekend. I just have the black and white ones
Thanks for the comments. It has a plastic bezel. I hadn't thought of somebody "wearing" it on purpose, but that may have happened. I like the almost plain black appearance. I wondered what it may have inside; the back is too tight for me to remove.
Definately a Valjoux 7733 @imagwai : It wasn't on OF. Here is the link: http://www.ebay.de/itm/262920563391?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Best Nico
yes i have the same model, pretty patinated sunburst blue dial, very nice bulky dual chrono. i bought this because i have a precision rolex which has a similar aging state of blue sunburst dial.
Nice Seastars! Here's the family picture from 1969...next you need to chase a nice T.12 or PR-516: (thanks)
