I was winding my vintage cyma (cal 576) when suddenly there was a give and the crown was spinning freely and not winding. I brought it to my watchmaker who told me the Setting Lever Spring had broken.

Been hunting for a replacement with no success. Besides waiting for a donor movement or parts watch on eBay, I was wondering:
    a) anyone have any leads to someone with a drawerful of vintage Cyma parts?
    b) is the cal 576 setting lever spring interchangeable with any other calibre's? Eg. cal 574 or 586?

    Any advice would help, thanks!

Buy a donor parts watch for movement parts off eBay had to do that a few times since the watchmaker could not find the parts. Mite be more expensive than new parts but but being vintage those parts are scarce and this is the easiest way.

I have a CYMA marked movement I got just to strip for the balance wheel and regulator but its a ST96 movement with center second hand. I doubt any parts would interchange.

Thanks guys! It's a Calibre 576 as mentioned earlier.

The above pic was sent by my watchmaker. Another pic of a cal 576 (courtesy of Vintage Caliber) is below.

I checked the Ranfft database for both cal 576 and 586. (hyperlinks provided). Confusingly, the pics look exactly the same, although the text details are different.

In terms of trying to find a cal 576 donor watch:
    1. No luck so far, despite 6 weeks of searching on ebay.
    2. I'm no expert, but when I look at the cal 586 pic from Dr Ranfft below, I think the part which broke in my watch's cal 576 looks similar to the cal 586 one in the pic below (pink arrow).

Which made me wonder if the setting lever springs are interchangeable? Any advice welcome, tks!

I went through my stash today, and found 3 Cymas. Unfortunately, not that particular caliber. Several Tavannes (as in Cyma, Tavannes, Tacy) use the same set bridge. Tavannes 162-414 being one. This Tavannes movement shows up in my Bestfit catalog, but the Cyma 576 doesn’t. So, in your search, you might include a search for the Tavannes part as well.
