Hi there guys, new to this forum & hoping I can get some help, found this watch in an old jigsaw puzzle box & am trying to find out any info I can get hold of, I do know that the jigsaw came from my wife's family & her dad was a navy diver in the 70's looking on the internet it all seems to be correct apart from there's no letter T on the dial which should be on all navy watches, or am I incorrect, any help greatly appreciated.
From the poor scans you have posted it looks kosher to me. We need better quality scans in daylight to be sure. From memory the earlier ones (1967) might not have all had T dials. Yours in a 1968 issue however. Fyi collectors pay substantially more for T dialled examples.
Yes figured its not the correct one on there, just thought I'd see if watch could be real or not, when I have some info on the watch will let mother in law know & she can decide what to do with it,
Wow - Nice find! Looks pretty good so far. Make sure whoever removes the bracelet understands the bars are fixed in place and must not be damaged. If they are competent have them remove the case back also, again be careful not to damage it and don't try and do it yourself!
Ok taken a couple more pics outside so hope there good enough, don't think I can take anything better but maybe good enough for an opinion, the watch itself is fairly beat up I'm afraid with a couple of dings on the bezel, are there people who restore these or is it better to leave it as is?
Very nice! It would be helpful if you could post a pic of the moment as well. As mentioned above, have a competent watch maker remove the back, don't try to do yourself. It likely hasn't been off it quite a while and you don't want to scratch it.
It looks superb. I would not restore it at all if I were you. Get it serviced and put a new strap on it and you've got yourself an absolute belter of a watch.
Thanks for all reply's, very interesting, could anyone give me an idea of what it's worth as now I've found it better get it insured,
its also well worth ordering an extract from Omega to clarify the details. https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/extract-of-the-archives/
Ok cool will have a look. Where's the best place to look for a strap for it & can it be serviced by a decent watch repairer or do I need to take it somewhere in particular?
you will not go wrong with either of these.... I wouldnt take it just anywhere. http://swisstimeservices.co.uk/ http://www.obsoletewatchandclockparts.com/
With an Omega extract showing mod delivery and without the T dial id say it would be worth around £20k. Nice find.
