After looking around for a few months, I finally chanced on an arrowhead piepan and bought it in a heartbeat although the lugs and medallion is heavily polished... :( with a non original crystal . Also, added a bor separately

Anyone notice anything else I may have missed? Thanks

    Hi Nwolly,

don't focus on the cons too much, dial looks very good and the BOR contrasts the golden dial furniture very well!

    Enjoy the watch! :)

Hi , I am also a newbie myself, the watch looks good to me. But just curious on the word Chronometer on the dial, should it be CHRONOMETRE instead for this reference?

    Thanks.

Could be a very late 2852. I remember discussing 2852 and "chronometer" a while back. Calling @ConElPueblo!

"Er"-spelling is correct for a two-line ref. 2852. First pie pan I've seen with this configuration.

There are a number of different shapes of that particular lug type, even within the same reference.

Yours are quite worn and the ones on the photo you just posted aren't exactly unpolished either.

    Hi folks,

I finally got my watch maker to open the case today and notice that my 2852 is running on a 551.

I always thought that it might be a 50X cal for this reference based on my research.

I spoke with the seller and he told me this model falls under the period of transition between 2852 to 14381-14393, hence this setup (only for 2852 SC 18 model) . 20190310_124537.jpg

Anyone has seen similar watches or knows about this? Appreciate any feedback.

I've never seen a 551 in a 2852 case before. It also looks like an 18 million serial number which IMO is also way too late for a 2852. I think this watch has problems....

I think the seller got it from ebay before selling to me... Because I notice the serial number on the calibre is exactly the same.

The shape of the E and G look different to other examples. The dial area inside the E and A in OMEGA a different colour to the rest of the dial. Maybe a indicator of something.

I believe that's the patina before it being cleaned out as shown in the eBay link posted by @tdn-dk

One interesting note is that there is actually 2852 with 561 cal (later movement) . Featured in Desmond's blog (one with the rail track dial) though that seem to be a solid gold version. Screenshot_20190310-190039_Drive.jpg

Just curious if anyone else here seen any other 2852 with cal 551/561.

Not noticed that before but there is a typo there somewhere.
    A 561 is a date movement
