@Hijak - your gold 291 is super awesome as well! The lugs on yours differ from the typically 29Xers - thicker with no facets. I wonder if there were different several case styles for the earlier 29Xers in particular.

 

Yes, there were. Those came in references 902x-x and some did have different lugs.... maybe the 9025 and 9026 was the way to tell? The 29x series first came in the old 900x cases that originally housed the 19A series. That only lasted less than a year before the new case styles came out in very late 1959. Lou (@LouS ) has one of those transitional Conquests - he's posted a picture before on request so hopefully he'll drop by and do so in this thread.

Is this the transitional you are referring to? https://omegaforums.net/threads/incidental-conquest.3258/ If so, then it has the typical faceted lugs as a 902X case.


@Hijak killer 9025 example in contrast has thicker and shorter straight lugs


The lugs, though similar to the 19AS, are slightly different in my view. Straighter and skinnier compared to my 19AS


I guess you could consider both @LouS and @Hijak examples above as transitional!
